Hans Mullens (BE) – Composer, Musician & Sound Designer


Hans Mullens is a seasoned composer, musician, arranger, sound designer, and music programmer with over 30 years of experience. His musical journey began at the age of 15 as a bass guitarist in various bands. He attended art school, where his creativity was nurtured, and later continued his studies at the Antwerp Jazz Studio.

He started his career composing music for a local television station and short films. Soon after, he began working on national and international advertising campaigns for brands such as Nike, Samsonite, BMW, McDonald's, IKEA, KBC, SPA, Stella Artois, and many other brands.

Beyond commercials, Hans has composed music for numerous television series. He worked for Cartoon Network (Robotboy, Gawayn) and created the soundtrack for Matroesjka’s (2005), a gripping drama series about human trafficking that was sold to over 40 countries. A fun fact: Hans is also the composer of Keno, one of the longest-running lottery result shows on Belgian television.

Hans also composed the score for the animated film Witchfairy, which was selected for numerous international film festivals and won multiple awards. He also worked on the Netflix historical drama Thieves of the Wood, which tells the story of the Flemish outlaw Jan de Lichte.

He composed the music for all seasons of Undercover, a thrilling series based on true events, following undercover agents infiltrating a drug operation. The full series is available on Netflix. He also wrote the score for Billie, a documentary about the life of Billie Holiday, which was released internationally.

Hans has also made his mark in the theater world, composing for productions by De Queeste (BE), Het Vervolg (NL), and KVS (BE).

As a musician, he has toured internationally with bands such as Buscemi and Arsenal. Currently, he is exploring the boundaries of experimental jazz with his new band Kameel.
